Sweet Deceit
Leisure Books | March 2002
When Diana’s elderly husband, the Duke of Wimberly, begs her to lie with a stranger to give him a worthy heir, she is reluctant, but eventually agrees to grant him his dying wish. Diana tries to convince herself this is only for duty, but she discovers passion in the arms of her husband’s handsome nephew, Gavin Winslow, Lord Baldwin. Their feelings for one another grow, but the law would never allow the marriage.
Gavin loves his uncle who practically raised him and hates this deception. But he hates his uncle’s heir, who abused him as a boy, even more. The man is not fit to be the next Duke of Wimberly. If lying with Diana is the only way to deny the man, then he will go along with his uncle’s scheme. Diana’s innocent beauty enchants him and when he realizes she is actually carrying his child, he can’t bear the thought of not having her by his side and raising the babe as their own. What have they done? When Wimberly dies and the heir presumptive arrives, it becomes clear that Diana and her unborn child are in grave danger. How can they keep their secret and honor Wimberly’s last wish? Is there any way to make things right for Wimberly and the child?
Sweet Deceit was written by Gerry Bartlett as Lynn McKay. It is currently out of print but you can sometimes find copies on Amazon.

I must have been hiding under a rock to have missed this book before. It sounds fantastic. Can’t wait to read it.
There are some very steamy scenes. You can imagine since the premise requires two virtual strangers hop into bed together right away. For some reason I love writing that kind of thing. Vicarious thrills, I guess. I imagine it’s me and that talented rake. Sigh.
I am always looking for new authors to read and your book sounds really good. I like reading these kinds of stories.
